In America most people drive automatic cars. They refer to manual cars as 'stick shift' the stick being the gear lever. In this country (United Kingdom) the position is very different with the vast majority preferring to drive a car that has a clutch.

M stands for Mirror or mirrors, S stands for signal if required, the second M stands for the Manouevre you are to carry out. So if for example you are required to pull over you should check your interior and left mirrors, signal left, move to the left side of the road and brake to a smooth halt.

What do you expect from a driving school? With 2Pass.eu Driving School our aim is the complete package. Motorcycle training from the age of 16, automatic and manual car training from 17.

There is a lot to learn when you set out to obtain a driving licence. What is most important is that you realise that you have a responsibiltity when in control of a vehicle that is powerful and can cause injury and death if handled incorrectly. Within the text of this post are sections taken from The Driving Syllabus, The Theory Test, Driving Skills and Show Me Tell Me questions.

Driving Instruction is not something that everyone can do. In fact statistics show that only very few people who set out to qualify as a driving instructor, actually succeed. The website - http://www.learnerdriver.co.uk/ - claims that only 18% of trainee driving instructors go on to qualify and become registered with the Driving Standards Agency as Approved Driving Instructors.

The government is committed to improving road safety and reducing the number of accidents and fatalities in Great Britain. Although there are many measures to achieve this, one is to tighten up existing legislation as it relates to learning to drive.

2Pass.eu Driving School is playing its part in trying to ensure that in this area you will receive first class training from us. You see, all driving instructors that are associates of 2Pass.eu Driving School have passed all of the qualifying examinations. We are all experts in what we do and that is to guide you to success in your driving test.

One way you can make an informed decision on which driving instructor to choose is to view our 2Pass.eu Driving School website which will go live early in 2009. This area will be covered and you will be able to view the profiles of all driving instructors working here.

Most drivers in the UK drive manual cars. It has been this way ever since the motor car was invented. In other parts of the world more people drive automatic cars. Although the process is slow, more UK drivers are opting for automatics.

A feature that attracts many people to learning in an automatic is the fact that they do not have a clutch pedal. This fact alone is common to all automatics and it means that you only need one foot for the pedals. This is convenient for people with certain disabilities. Automatics however do have different features and these will be covered elsewhere.

Driving Skill:- Do you drive with courtesy and consideration for other road users, including pedestrians? In order to be a good safe driver you need to be considerate of ALL road users!

Syllabus element:- Bay Parking - you must demonstrate effective all round observation and show consideration to other road users when parking your vehicle.

Control your vehicle making proper use of clutch (if fitted), accelerator, brakes and steering. Allow for clearance as your vehicle is turning, the front will swing out to the left or right depending on the direction of travel.

Keep a special look out for cyclists and pedestrians who may pass close to the front of your vehicle.

Show Me Tell Me Question :- Show me/explain how you would check that the power assisted steering is working before starting a journey.
Answer :- If the steering becomes heavy the steering may be faulty. Before starting a journey two simple checks can be made. 1) Gentle pressure on the steering wheel, maintained whilst the engine is started, should result in slight but noticeable movement as the system begins to operate. 2) Turning the steering wheel after just moving off will give an immediate indication that the power assisted steering is functioning correctly.

All things are not created equal - this is quite a common saying that also applies to automatic cars. Not all automatic cars are the same in the manner in which you drive them. This said there is one common feature, or to be more accurate, the absence of a common feature - the clutch - automatics do not have a clutch pedal.

Driving Skill:- Unless you drive an automatic, are gears smoothly and correctly selected? Is your braking smooth and progressive? Do you use acceleration sense? There is nothing worse than a driver pulling away with tyres screaming, gears crashing as they are changed and worse still, hard braking!

Syllabus element:- Parallel Park - you must demonstrate effective all round observation and show consideration to other road users when parking your vehicle.

Control your vehicle making proper use of clutch (if fitted), accelerator, brakes and steering. Allow for clearance as your vehicle is turning, the front will swing out to the right.

Show Me Tell Me Question:- Tell me where you would find the information for the recommended tyre pressures for this car and how tyre pressures should be checked. Answer - Information will be found using the car manufacturer?s manual. Check the tyre pressures by using a reliable pressure gauge when the tyres are cold. Don?t forget the spare and remember to refit the valve caps.

Learning to drive? If so you are in the market for a driving instructor in your area. One word of advice - choose an expert to help you. 2Pass.eu Driving School Instructors are all Driving Standards Agency Registered and fully qualified.

When learning to drive or ride a motorcycle it is important that you practise safe driving skills, are aware of your responsibilities and knowledgeable of the theory. For this reason, throughout this publication are included random sections of text referring to the Driving syllabus, Show Me Tell Me Questions, Theory Questions and Driving Skills.

Driving Instruction is a skilled occupation practised by thousands of men and woman who have trained to qualify for the position of Approved Driving Instructor.

The governing body that approves prospective driving instructors is the Driving Standards Agency.

What you may not know is that each year, thousands of new prospective driving instructors set out to achieve ADI status but only very few actually succeed. The website http://www.learnerdriver.co.uk state that only 18 trainees are successful for every 100 that tries.

How does this affect you? It could hit you in the pocket! If you choose a Driving School that charge the same lesson prices given by a trainee, you could find yourself paying out a large sum of money while being used as a guinea pig.

There is no such dilemma when you choose a 2Pass.eu Driving School Instructor. We only associate with fully qualified, very experienced Approved Driving Instructors. The bonus is that our lesson prices are extemely competitive.

Our 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise begins early 2009. Our hope is that we will have driving instructors in this area. If we do you should be able to view driving instructor profiles from the 2Pass.eu website.

In the UK, most people when they learn to drive, opt for learning in a maunual car. In the United states and in many other countries around the world this is not the case. In fact, manual or 'stick shift' as it is known, is the minority choice.

When one is going to learn to drive an automatic you will find learning that much easier than learning in a manual car. The reason for this is that all automatics, whilst not all being exactly the same in their characteristics, have no clutch pedal. You only require one foot to control the foot pedals being the accelerator and brake.

Driving Skill:- Can you drive with reasonable restraint without being hesitant? Is your judgement of speed and distance accurate? These are skills a good driver possesses.

Syllabus element:- Signals - You must signal for the benefit of other road users to let them know what you intend to do.

Signal:-

*Only using signals shown in the Highway Code.
*If a signal would help other road users, including pedestrians.
*In plenty of time.

Other road users need to see and understand what you intend to do so that they can react safely. Your signal or lack of signal must not mislead others.

Show Me Tell Me Question :- Open the bonnet, identify where you would check the engine coolant level and tell me how you would check the engine has the correct level.

Answer :- Identify the coolant tank and check the min/max markings. If the coolant is below the minimum mark then more coolant will need to be added. To do this, unscrew the cap and pour in coolant until the maximum mark is reached.

What do you expect from a driving school? With 2Pass.eu Driving School our aim is the complete package. Motorcycle training from the age of 16, automatic and manual car training from 17.

This article contains elements of the process involved when learning to drive.

To start with there is the Theory and Hazard Perception Training. This is followed by instruction in driving using a Driving Syllabus. As you learn to drive you will acquire Driving Skills so essential in order to be a safe driver. Finally you learn about your vehicle via the Show Me Tell Me questions, two of which are asked at the start of a driving test.

During 2008 and continuing into 2009, the government will be looking at ways to improve the standards of new drivers.

There are many measures under consideration but a fundamental one is trying to ensure that potential new drivers receive a high standard of tuition.

Currently there is every chance that when you choose a driving instructor, the driving school you choose may provide you with a trainee instructor. This is not something that we recommend!

According to the website - http://www.learnerdriver.co.uk/ - very few trainee instructors actually qualify as Driving Instructors and yet while they are training, they could be taking your money. Apparently only 18% of trainee instructors pass all of the examinations required to become fully qualified.

2Pass.eu Driving school driving instructors are all fully qualified. Driving Instructors associated with 2Pass.eu Driving School have been successful in passing all of the qualifying tests and are registered with the Driving Standards Agency. We are all experts in the field of driving instruction!

Cars have been around for a very long time and technology never stops developing easier ways in which the car performs many functions such as road holding, braking etc. You would think then that most people would choose the easiest form of driving, automatic cars, but in the UK this is just not so. In America however most people do drive automatics.

Not all automatics perform the same. As with most things, there are different types of automatic cars. There is however one feature thing that all automatics lack and that is the clutch. When learning in an automatic car you will only need one foot to control the brake and the accelerator.

Driving Skill:- Can you reverse left into a limited opening remaining reasonably close to the kerb, observing all around you? One of the manoeuvres you could be asked to perform is reversing into a side road. It needs to be done in a controlled manner whilst ensuring observation all around you .

Syllabus element:- Pedestrian Crossings - You should be able to recognise the different types of pedestrian crossing and show courtesy and consideration towards pedestrians.

At all crossings you should slow down and stop if there is anyone on the crossing. At zebra crossings you should slow down and be prepared to stop if there is anyone waiting to cross.

Give way to pedestrians on a Pelican Crossing when the amber light is flashing.

Show Me Tell Me Question :- Open the bonnet, identify where the brake fluid reservoir is and tell me how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid.
Answer :- Identify the brake fluid reservoir and check the fluid level against the min/max levels.
