Can A Learner Driver Carry Passengers?
A question I often get asked by clients is - Can A Learner Driver Carry Passengers? Yes!
Provided you have a suitably qualified driver sitting beside you, it is perfectly ok for you to drive with passengers in the car.
Another question I often get asked is - Can a learner driver carry children? The answer to this is also yes, provided the appropriate seats are provided for children of certain ages.
The most important consideration is that the front seat passenger must be at least 21 years of age and have held a full UK Driving Licence for three or more years.
Both driver and front seat passenger must be fit to drive, not under the influence of drink or drugs. Also the front seat passenger must not use a hand held mobile ‘phone while the car is in motion. The reason for this is that although a passenger, in the eyes of the law the front seat passenger is responsible.
In order to be legal you must also enure that you have the correct insurance allowing you to drive and that L Plates are visible from the front and rear of the car.
